it’s thursday, november 9, & moon is in virgo, moving from the starspace called uttaraphalguni into hasta this morning. virgo vibrates with the frequency of worrying, it’s where our worrywart comes out to play. which has both its upsides & downsides. one upside is that it makes us pay closer attention to what might go wrong & be proactive—like making sure we eat healthfully & exercise so we don’t get sick, keep our bodies strong so we can use them longer. one downside is that we can become hypochondriacs in the process, so fearful of disease that being proactive turns into obsessive-compulsion & it’s all we focus on. ugh! under the sway of virgo we are invited to do what we can & realize that we can’t control everything.
hasta (see yesterday’s post for uttaraphalguni) means “hand” & is ruled by savitur, the creative, inspirational & transformative solar deity, who has the power to put what we want in our hands, help us achieve our goals. & if, say, you are about to use your hands to transform a huge bucketful of flowers into, hopefully (!), displays of celebratory gorgeousness, may the force of savitur be with you!
it’s the twelfth lunar day (tithi), the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by surya (more solar energy!), aka the sun, who gives us confidence. as a result, this tithi empowers us with all kinds of wealth—spiritual & material, fame & wisdom … especially if we did our tapas yesterday! so, given that hasta is in the mix, it’s a double-good day to ask ourselves if we are allowing ourselves to achieve our goals or whether we are holding ourselves back, whether we are showing up with confidence.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us our beliefs, a belief system that creates a container for our lives, provides a sense of purpose, organizes our behavior. it’s important to remember that everyone has beliefs. beliefs aren’t inherently true or moral. terrorists have beliefs. governments have beliefs. wars are a result of dueling beliefs. it’s a good day to check in with ours, be open to the possibility that they could be based on misinformation, even disinformation, &, at least partly, on our own conditioned biases, which we’ve all got, & edit our beliefs accordingly, or at least try to understand where others are coming from—not to condone them or their behavior, just to understand.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
