it’s sunday, october 11, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called pushya until way early afternoon, then in ashlesha. cancer creates an environment of unconditional love, like the love mothers feel for their children. it’s a kind of durga love, the willingness to do anything & everything for them without expecting anything in return.
trevor noah’s mother was totally baller—he wouldn’t be who he is today if not for her. she embodied durga, lakshmi & saraswati & put her faith in jesus. she, a fiercely single black woman, had him, fathered by a white man during apartheid (wtf?!), b/c, like many women who have been neglected or abused as children, who have not known what it feels like to be loved unconditionally, she wanted someone to love.
in born a crime, trevor writes: “my mother used to tell me, ‘i chose to have you because i wanted something to love and something that would love me unconditionally in return—and then I gave birth to the most selfish piece of shit on earth and all it ever did was cry and eat and shit and say, “me, me, me, me, me.” ‘ ”
alas, his mom missed the unconditional piece, initially, but it all worked out—they were incredibly tight & he was totally & absolutely & unconditionally loved.
pushya means “to nourish,” ashlesha means “to embrace” or “to entangle.” sometimes we go overboard with our love, cling too tightly—we give so much that we lose ourselves in the object of our love, which isn’t good for anyone. it’s always a good idea to patrol our boundaries.
it’s the tenth phase of the waning moon, which invites us to do our dharma, make sure our actions are aligned with our truth.
the sun rules sunday. the sun is our soul(ar) power, the light that shines consistently within us & out into the world. it is also connected to father, or father figures. if you were born on a sunday after sunrise, you’ve got some karma with the sun to work out in this lifetime, so you might want to start pondering your relationship with your own light, how you do or don’t let yourself shine.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
