it’s wednesday, october 11, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni. leo is the sign of our personal power & how we wield it. it is ruled by the sun, one of the luminaries, both of whom are sattvic, meaning that the highest expression of their qualities is for the upliftment of all. leo is the sovereign who rules with magnanimity, uses power for the greatest good of all, not for personal profit. leo is the sovereign who would never use might to oppress others or take away their human rights, would never conjure wars out of thin air to maintain power or to plump up the coffers of, say, a military industrial complex. leo is truly sovereign, independent, would never be beholden to, say, corporate interests, b/c they can’t but sway leo’s ability to assess a situation & act in right alignment, to stand in his/her/their full & absolute integrity.
purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, the god of delight, of our earthly delights, & reminds us that all work & no play makes jack/jill/whomever a dull boy/girl/nonbinary person. this is the part of leo where we are invited to take a break from all the hard work of being a king/queen/quing, being utterly responsible, & enjoy the fruit (phalguni = “fruit”) of our productivity, the good we’ve done; it’s where we get to rest & restore. exhaustion is not a sign of success & rest does not have to be earned. our body & brain require rest to function properly. &, not that our worth should be tied to our productivity, we are actually more productive when we’ve rested. so if you haven’t learned that yet, try hanging up & in your metaphorical (or actual!) hammock & see what happens!
it’s the thirteenth lunar day, the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which, hmmm, also has a venusian quality to it, as it is related to kamadeva, the hindu cupid, & likewise supports us in doing what delights us with the ones who delight us. what would bring you pleasure today? who would bring you delight? how can you be in your joy today?
wednesday is ruled by mercury, the ur communicator. mercury loves to share, rather than censor, information, b/c he gives us the discriminating intelligence to think for ourselves, does not need anyone else to spare us the facts or spin them & thus infantilize us.
