it’s friday, october 13, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hasta, but we have a new moon & solar eclipse tomorrow in the starspace called citra, which is a big effing deal, so let’s explore the players at play:
• eclipses are an alignment of sun (soul), moon (mind) & earth (body).
• sun & moon—the masculine & feminine—coming together in the sign of virgo is what creates the new moon, which is the beginning of the lunar cycle, where we get to plant a seed to grow something new, just as the male fertilizes the females’ egg.
• virgo, the sign of our life details, is ruled by mercury, the thinky planet who gives us discriminating intelligence & the ability to separate the wheat from the chaff, fact from fiction.
• citra is ruled by tvashtar, the cosmic artisan, & reminds us that we are always works in progress, that our life work, like sculptors, is to keep chipping away the excess to reveal the magnificent truth of our unique selves.
• the lunar nodes, aka the shadowy mischief makers rahu & ketu, are what foment eclipses, & thus bring what’s been hidden, in shadow, out into daylight. ketu is the instigator of the solar eclipse tomorrow.
• mars, planet of war, hit the eclipse degree on september 28, hence the speaker upset & the conflagration in israel-gaza. ketu is also very mars like, & venus, as a morning star, has a warrior quality. yikes!
• the eclipse will be annular, which means sun will appear as a ring of fire—let’s not get burned by it!
putting it all together, our moon work is make sure we are in right alignment, to fact-check the story (stories?!) we’ve been telling, about ourselves &/or the world, refine & rewrite it, to notice what truths we’ve been afraid to look at are being revealed, to remember that the truth, & the truth of who we are, is ever evolving. those with planets at 27 degrees virgo will feel it more, but we all have a virgo house & that’s where our action is, & may already have felt it building (or is it just me?!). if you don’t know what house virgo is for you, drop your deets into an online birthchart calculator.
bonus trax: the eclipse passes over oregon, nevada, the four corners & then texas in the U.S. it is best to stay on the down low—meditate!—& def do NOT watch it without proper eye protection, but it’ll be live streamed at nasa.gov starting 9:30 a.m. MDT.
may the eclipse be with you, not against you! may there be more love, not more war!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
