it’s monday, october 16, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called vishakha. libra vibrates with the frequency of our relationships—all of them, whether business, romantic, platonic or familial—& wants all of them to be mutually beneficial: good for you, good for me. libra is ruled by venus, planet of conditional love, as opposed to the love of the moon, who rules cancer, which is unconditional. venus/libra wants needs to be honored, boundaries respected. while moon love is all giving, venusian love requires the giving & receiving to be reciprocal, not one-sided. under the sway of libra we get to make sure we’re not overgiving, ignoring our own needs-wants-desires, self-abandoning in relationship just to be liked, which doesn’t usually work out well; for “the most common form of despair,” kierkegaard said, “is not being who you are.” if we aren’t showing up as who we really are, with our needs & boundaries, how can we expect others to show up as they really are? when we show up authentically, others can too, & that’s how we co-create mutually beneficial relationships.
vishakha means “forked” or “two-branched” & is ruled by both indra & agni, the king & the priest, who represent the material & the spiritual. we often think that when we come to a fork in the road we have to choose between right & left, between, say, following a material versus a spiritual path. & that may be true for some, but this asterism reminds us that just as a king’s strength historically came from the priest’s blessings, the priest was able to practice b/c of the king’s financial support. it gives us the power to achieve our goals abundantly when we remember that it’s not one or the other but both/&.
it’s the second lunar day, the second phase of the waxing moon after that powerful solar eclipse. what did it reveal? what are you bringing into manifestation as a result?
monday is ruled by the moon, who gives us the superpower of connection, allows us to feel one with all, not just with some. for moon gives us the emotional intelligence to understand that we are all having the same human experience, all have the same basic needs-wants-desires, that we are all more the same than different, that our differences are more external than internal, more temporal than eternal.
