October 17th’s dollop of dharma courtesy of the moon!

it’s thursday, october 17, & moon is in the starspace called rohini, which is in taurus. so, unless you’re driving cross-country with a kitty, whose every whim & need you’ve been attending to since 3:30 this morning, lest he disturb your neighbors at the inn, & who is, natch, now having his 6 am snooze (!), you should be feeling as calm and content, as, well, a kitty whose every need has been attended to, who feels completely loved & supported & is snooze-nestled in a pile of plush blankets. or as a kitty owner who now has a ginormous americano from taos java in hand! (note: he was a perfect angel in the car, well deserving of the award for best feline traveler ever!)

rohini is considered the favorite wife of the moon. moon is said to have 27 wives, which is why there are 27 nakshatras. in order to be fair, moon spends one night with each of his wives, which is quite a sacrifice if he’s got a favorite! krishna is said to have had rohini as his birth star, which is why he was the favorite, why he was beloved by so many, men & women. but i think it’s fair to say that his crew of gopis may have way outshone the moon. so there is a lot of romantic & creative & sexual energy, a lot of desire, but just make sure to share, to tell your jealousy to talk to your hand, to know that you are loved & not take it personally if others get attention too. radha shared krishna with all the gopis—you can too!

it’s the fourth phase of the waning moon, which is related to dealing with obstacles. take your time dealing with them today b/c sun is moving house (sign) today, getting settled in libra, & until he unpacks his bags & meditates & has a long bath, he’s not going to be feeling up to speed. since sun is our power source, we, too, may not be feeling up to speed for a while. & sun is debilitated in libra, which, well, more on that on sun-day. so cut yourself some slack today, lower your expectations, or head to the spa.

thursday is owned by jupiter, who connects us to our highest purpose, gives us meaning, finds teachers & teachings to guide us. thursdays are good for remembering our teachers & asking them for guidance.
