it’s thursday, october 1, & we have a full moon in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. this means the sun is in the opposite sign blasting its rays at the moon, literally shining a light, a very bright light, on our consciousness, aka the moon, which is colored by the atmosphere of pisces. the full moon begins the second half of the lunar cycle that began with the new moon, balancing that energy. in this case, the new moon was in virgo & invited us to pay attention to the details of our lives; the full moon in pisces invites us to let go of the details, to not be so rigid, to be spontaneous, to surrender. we’ve established rules, structure, a safe container, & now we can just be in the mystery, go with the flow.
in yoga, there are a lot of alignment rules, but they don’t always apply to everyone, to everyone’s body. it’s helpful to know the rules & why they are there & then to be open to the experience of them in our body, to know what works & what doesn’t for us, what experience the rules facilitate & whether they really serve us. we have to know the rules (virgo) to know when to break them (pisces), when it’s ok to break them & why we might want to.
picasso was a classically trained artist—he could draw like nobody’s business—but if he didn’t allow himself to ditch the rules & dive into the mystery of his imagination, we wouldn’t have cubism. einstein had four planets in pisces, which was where his house of career was, including mercury, the planet of intellectual curiosity (& also happened to be his ruler, since he was a gemini). einstein has said that his theory of relativity was inspired by a childhood dream, by that realm beyond the earthly, by the metaphysical & mystical, where rules don’t exist.
the shakti of uttarabhadra is to bring the rain, to purify our desires. if we can let go of negativity, i.e., clinging to rules b/c w think they will protect us, which they will, but they can also stifle us, then who knows what might happen when we surrender, allow ourselves to be in the mystery, be open to miracles!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
