it’s thursday, october 20, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. while cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, which is what we’ve been experiencing for the last couple of days, leo vibrates with the opposite, with the frequency of the divine masculine. overnight the cosmic energy shifted from internal feeling to external doing. under the sway of cancer we feel emotionally connected to others; under the sway of leo we stand up for them, take responsibility for them, protect them, by being fully in our power, in our sovereignty. leo invites us to walk into the room, to walk through life, as if god/goddess sent us. note: that does not mean acting as if we were god/goddess (which, of course, we are, but that’s another story—see below), getting all up in our heads, letting our ego go nuclear.

magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, & brings a lesson about, yes, ego, as it reminds us that if we think we got here all by ourselves we have another thing coming. like “self-made millionaires” who inherited a huge chunk of change from daddy or relied on the government’s biased tax structure to accrue their fortune, we have others to be grateful for, others who taught us & mentored us & gave us their genes & otherwise broke trail for us, made our path through life easier.

it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which is called nanda, “happiness.” one way happiness comes is through spiritual practices like fasting, worship, observing vows, & meditation. our thoughts are what create us & our world. meditation allows us to watch our thoughts, separate ourselves from them, detach our identity, even for a few seconds, from them. “our main duty,” said swami nirmalananda, “is to go beyond thoughts.” which takes practice. today is a good day to reconnect to your practice or start one.

thursday is owned by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru. guru takes us to god, connects us to our own divinity, reminds us of our true nature. “we are all god in baby form,” said shri brahmananda sarasvati, “but we don’t know it yet.” the knowing is a process of remembering who we really are.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
