it’s monday, october 24, & there’s a lot going on in the cosmos! it’s diwali. saturn is now direct. there’s a new moon & solar eclipse overnight in libra, in the starspace called swati. sun is in libra (natch, cause there couldn’t be a new moon or solar eclipse there otherwise), its sign of debilitation. & venus is combust the sun in libra. now, let’s unpack all that.
diwali is the hindu festival of lights celebrating the victory of lightness over darkness, goodness over evil, knowledge over ignorance. it is associated with lakshmi, goddess of prosperity, & ganesha, remover of obstacles. it marks the return of rama (the sun) & sita (the moon) to ayodhya after her captor, ravana, was defeated, with no little thanks to hanuman.
saturn represents our commitments, so if we’ve been waffling about those for the past few months, now is the time to move forward—we’ve had plenty of time to reflect, dontcha think?
the new moon brings new beginnings & the solar eclipse brings what’s been hidden, on a personal level, in the crevices of our psyches, to light. all this in libra, sign of relationships, invites us to purge past relationship trauma so we can create the relationships we truly want going forward. we get to ask ourselves whom we are still holding grudges against, how being preoccupied by past relationships is holding us back from showing up authentically in our current relationships. as one of my teachers recently shared, grudges are for people who think they have all the time in the world! we don’t!
swati, ruled by vayu, hanuman’s dad, brings a lesson about focusing our prana, our life force, as hanuman did to rescue sita.
sun is our power source, our inner light, & in libra we are prone to give our power away to others b/c we are all relational beings & want, more than anything in our heart of hearts, to be in relationship & might do anything, including deny our own needs-wants-desires, to be in one. it’s crucial to remember that our power lies within ourselves, not in others, & to stay tuned in to our inner light.
combust venus—i.e., being way close to the sun—planet of love, means that energy is getting purified, often by acting impulsively & making mistakes.
so our moon work for this lunar cycle is getting clear about & showing up in our power so we can create the relationships we truly desire, which means taking the time to reflect on our needs & communicating honestly & vulnerably about them. got that?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
