October 24th’s dollop of dharma courtesy of the moon!

it’s thursday, october 24, & moon is in the starspace called purva phalguni, which is the second nakshatra of leo. so more of that kingly leo energy is in the air. leo is ruled by the sun, which is our sense of personal identity & power, & with sun debilitated (not operating at/vibrating at his highest frequency), we, & by we, i do mean all of us, not the royal we, might be feeling challenged identity-wise, which might cause us to butt heads with others who are likewise identity-challenged, as there could be a whole lot of that going on. so check in often to make sure you are aligned with your highest purpose & no harm will come to you, nor will you do harm to others.

purva phalguni is associated with the fruits (phal) of our past (purva) good deeds or qualities (guni). its energy invites us to take a break from our hard soul work & enjoy the material manifestations we’ve achieved as a result, the earthly desires that have been fulfilled because of the good karmic seeds that have ripened. it is a reminder that while we are spirit, while our ultimate goal is to transcend our material existence, we are not here to escape it, but to live as fully & deeply & humanly as possible as embodied beings on the earthly plane.

the eleventh phase of the waning moon becomes the twelfth late this morning. see if the practices that keep you on track, especially spiritual or yogic ones, in the first half of the morning don’t lead to a clarity of vision in the later morning—i mean, that’s why we do them!

thursday is ruled by jupiter, the guru, the one who guides us with wisdom toward our own wisdom. guru is the means, is the path, & is the goal. one of my gurus passed suddenly a few days ago & i am reminded how true that is: he was the guide (the means), he shared the teachings (which revealed the path), & he was an example of being in alignment with the highest (the goal). it’s good to remember our teachers & to remember that they, too, are mortal—they won’t be around forever.
