it’s friday, october 28, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. in the environment of the emotionally dark waters of scorpio, we tend to cling hard to what we are feeling, are unable to get perspective, like when we are forced under the surface by a powerful wave or pulled beneath it by a strong undertow & can’t tell which way is up & are lost in the murkiness. the key to scorpio’s energy is to use what we’re feeling to tap into deeper truths. as gurudev says, “events give rise to both emotions & lessons. often we hold onto emotions & don’t learn. wisdom is to drop emotions & move on with lessons.” we get to ask ourselves why we are feeling what we are feeling, what our subconscious is trying to reveal to us.

jyeshtha is ruled by indra & means “eldest,” as in the eldest child or the elder of a family, the one who has responsibility for the welfare of others, who embodies wisdom, like indra, lord of the gods. indra’s reputation suffered when he got too full of himself, became more obsessed with accruing power & the accoutrements of power than in humbly & benevolently serving. this asterism brings a lesson about taking our responsibilities for others, for the world around us, seriously, not using our position of authority to prop up our egos.

it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waxing moon, a rikta (inauspicious, empty) tithi (lunar phase), & humbles us (yes, more humility is in the mix today) in the face of obstacles. it’s good to remember that ganesh, the deity associated with obstacles, was born on this tithi & that he both places & removes them, b/c he loves us & wants us to evolve. “the very things which constitute obstacles in your life, when addressed, become the primary assets & allies on your journey,” says chris wallis. can you see your challenges—mental, physical, emotional—as gifts? chanting to ganesh may help, as will surrendering, b/c what we resist persists.

friday is ruled by venus, who wants us to do what we love with the ones we love, to delight in our earthly existence, in-joy the pleasures of our five senses. who delights you? what delights you?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
