daily blissit’s wednesday, october 2, & moon is in the starspace called anuradha, which, truth be told, i have a special fondness & affinity for. anuradha occupies most of the first half of scorpio, adding its special flavor of devotion to scorpio’s emotional waters. scorpio is where we can, if we choose to accept the challenge, deepen our emotional security, become emotionally courageous, face our fears. but it’s also where we can become emotionally & irrationally obsessive. devotion is the flipside of emotional obsession—who better to offer up your heart wholeheartedly to than god, to the divine, to something bigger than yourself?

i love anuradha because it is connected to two of my favorite hindu icons: radha & krishna. (ok, i also have three planets in this nakshatra & so i feel it!) this asterism invites us to follow (anu) in the footsteps of radha, be like her, do what she does. & what does she do? she devotes herself utterly to krishna. krishna represents the universal soul & radha the individual soul. the dance, the lila, between radha & krishna is one of the individual soul wanting to merge with the universal soul—of the mortal being wanting to become enlightened.

the catch-22 is that if radha were to merge with krishna, she would become krishna, & then she could no longer long for him. the lila of radha & krishna asks: would you rather be the sugar or taste the sugar? is it sweeter to long or to no longer long, to have your longing requited? what do you long for & is it worthy of your longing? is it in alignment with your dharma, with your calling, with your authenticity & integrity? what are you willing to give up to get it? how much of yourself are you willing to give?

it’s the fifth lunar day, which invites healing & goddess energy, the feminine aspect of creativity. we are now in the fourth day of navaratri, the nine-night  hindu celebration of the goddess in the form of durga, who represents purity, power & divinity. how can you tap into your goddess power to heal yourself or others?
