it’s monday, october 4, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni until midafternoon, then uttaraphalguni. leo vibrates with the frequency of our personal sovereignty, of inviolably knowing who we are & what we stand for, & of taking responsibility for expressing that out into the world in a way that uplifts & uplevels those we are able to touch. imagine the most beautiful world we could create if each of us stood in our most benevolent power, if each of us thought of our power as a gift to others rather than as a thing to be milked for our own personal aggrandizement!
purvaphalguni & uttaraphalguni are paired asterisms related to love & romance & marriage. each asterism contributes two stars, or points, to what becomes the four corners of a bed—the one we make love in, sanctify our love in, the one where our love rests & replenishes over time. “phal” means fruit & “guni” qualities, “purva” former & “uttara” latter. between today & tomorrow we get to enjoy the benefits of our good qualities, of the good deeds we have done in the past, on a material level & then uplevel them spiritually through commitment. first comes love/sex/romance, then comes marriage. bhaga, the deity who rules purva, invites us to enjoy; aryaman, who rules uttara, invites us to sign the contract for a sacred bond.
