it’s thursday, october 5, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra (ok, technically it was still in mrigashira at sunrise, but just—sue me!). gemini vibrates with the frequency of the buddhi, our intellect, which gives us the power to “form & retain concepts, reason, discern, judge, comprehend, understand” (wiki). but/& we don’t want to live from our intellect all the time, don’t want to be endlessly analyzing, lest we succumb to “povism,” which is defined as “the frustration of being stuck inside your own head, unable to see your face or read your body language in context, only ever guessing how you might be coming across—which makes you think of yourself as a detached observer, squinting out at a lushly painted landscape, though to everyone else you seem woven right into the canvas” (“the dictionary of obscure sorrows”). if you are getting lost in your head, the cure is in sagittarius, the sign opposite gemini, which is ruled by jupiter, who gives us the power to expand our perspective from our limited (ego-oriented) small self self into the limitlessness (god-oriented) of our big self self, to get out of our heads.
ardra is ruled by rudra, the stormy aspect of shiva—the destroyer, transformer, the change agent. change is a constant in our lives, & if it brings something unwanted, we get to cry if we want to (ardra means “moist,” as in tears) & remember that the sun always shines after a storm, there is always light on the horizon.
it’s the seventh lunar day, the seventh phase of the waxing moon. &, whoops, i was one tithi (lunar phase) ahead of myself yesterday, which was the sixth, not the seventh—good thing i’m not getting paid for this, so i can’t get fired! we all make mistakes, right? this tithi, as i mentioned yesterday (when you shoulda been celebrating your victories!), supports humility, which comes from acknowledging our mistakes, owning them & making amends. in this way, we hopefully do not keep making the same mistakes, keep repeating history.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is “guru.” guru is the one who removes (ru) the darkness (gu), the gunk dirtying our perspective, the film covering the lenses through which we are looking at life. it’s a good day to clean our lenses, let in more light!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
