it’s wednesday, october 7, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called mrigashira. taurus always reminds me of lounging on one of those bodacious shabby chic couches, of sinking into those super pillowy cushions & turning the pages of a book endlessly, lost in time, my teacup forever full. eventually—or is it just me?—we need to move, we feel grounded enough, restored enough, from our timeout & are ready for something else.
mrigashira brings the energy of restlessness, curiosity, seeking. the deity soma is invoked here, that elusive elixir of immortality that even the gods desired. i’m not sure why the gods weren’t immortal, or didn’t realize they were, which is probably more to the point, b/c what is immortality but to realize your godliness, your eternal nature?! augustine wrote that “to seek god is to find god.” which reminds me of st. francis of assisi, who said, “what you are looking for is what is looking.” which reminds me of dorothy’s sage realization in “the wizard of oz” about not needing to look farther than her own backyard for her heart’s desire. did she not say, “there’s no place like hOMe”? OM is god & god isn’t out there, but within. so why do we spend so much time looking out there?
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waning moon, which invites us to high-five ourselves for our accomplishments, to feel as victorious as shiva’s younger son, kartikeya, the celebrated army general. what demons have you slain recently? procrastination? self-doubt? what positive action steps have you taken? make a list & raise a glass of kombucha to toast yo’self!
mercury rules wednesday. mercury is the messenger, the bringer of news. he is also, like the mercury in a thermometer, changeable, flexible, adaptable. mercury in a thermometer expands & contracts as it is exposed to heat, to a body’s temperature. take the temperature of the day & expand or contract accordingly. be the bringer of news, the sharer of information. be open to receiving messages.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
