it’s thursday, october 8, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called mrigashira until late morning, then ardra. in the environment of gemini, mind feels curious, almost to the point of insatiability. we want to read about everything, pursue new interests & we want to share what we uncover in our reading & through our new pursuits—on FB & IG, via emails & blog posts &, yes, phone calls (remember them?). we are seeking information in order to make better sense of the world & of ourselves.
the nakshatra ardra (see yesterday’s post for the lowdown on mrigashira) is ruled by rudra, the fierce—fiercer?—aspect of shiva. he is also the hunter. rudra brings storms, which can be destructive. but they also bring renewal—we have to let go of something, something has to give, sometimes against our will, in order for the new thing to arise. the shakti here is to help us reach our goal, bring that renewal to our live, but we have to make some effort, be willing to be in the struggle. like a hunter—or, to keep this convo animal-friendly, like a dart player—we have to focus on a goal, bring all of our precious faculties of attention to it, in order to achieve it, hit our target. here we get to ask ourselves, is our aim true?
it’s the seventh lunar day, the seventh phase of the waning moon, which is related to lord indra, the ruler of all the gods. do feel like the ruler of your realm today, but do so with humility & a sense of responsibility rather than arrogance & pride, or you, too, could fall from grace like the great indra—even gods aren’t immune from the foibles of ego.
jupiter rules thursday. our inner jupiter craves a belief system, which we establish by gathering information, testing it, seeing what sticks, what seems true, what resonates in our hearts. jupiter is strong right now, so it’s a good time to embrace our highest beliefs—we’re going to need them shortly!
