it’s tuesday, october 8, & moon is in the starspace called dhanishta, which straddles capricorn & aquarius, creating a segue between those different but ultimately complementary energies—i mean, one thing always leads to the next, right? whereas capricorn is concerned with our individual lives, aquarius cares about the individual only in terms of how he/she/they serve humanity: capricorn is microcosmic, aquarius macrocosmic. capricorn is internal, aquarius external. so the first part of the day, we may still be inclined toward navel-gazing, maybe worrying over nothing; in the later part of the day, we’ll have had enough of that & turn our attentions to influencing bigger social structures, we’ll have got the message that one way to end suffering is to stop agonizing over the minutiae of our own lives & think about others.
dhanishta means to be completely wealthy, which means wealthy in body, mind & spirit—not in rupees or dollars or euros or shekels. our culture worships material wealth above all else—bigger, better, more—b/c we’ve been brainwashed by all those makers of stuff that we need x, y, or z, that our lives will be humongously improved with x, y, or z, humongously diminished without. so it’s become almost culturally genetic for us to work to earn, to buy, rather than to live. which also means way less time to create & enjoy meaningful connections with others & to pursue what really brings us joy, makes life worth living—way less time to actually live!
ashley kuzma, a 32-year-old pennsylvania woman who just died of cancer, wrote her own obituary in order to remind anyone who read it to let go of what’s insignificant, to value people & experiences. all too often, we don’t figure that out until it’s too late. let’s not.
it’s the eleventh phase of the waxing moon—a good day to re-up healthful/spiritual practices, especially if you’ve been falling off the wagon lately. a wee fast or sitting on your cushion longer than usual or both are all supported by this lunar day.
tuesday is ruled by mars, which is our courage, our fearlessness in action. he’s getting schooled right now by virgo to be a little more strategic, to pause before he strikes. how can you use that lesson in your own life?
