what to know so you can align with today’s energy from a vedic (not western/tropical) astrology point of view: it’s wednesday, august 12, & we have a new moon in cancer, in the starspace called aśleṣā, accompanied by a full solar eclipse, which is activated by the south node, ketu, who is dwelling nearby in leo, in the starspace called maghā.
the juncture …
… between cancer & leo, between aśleṣā & maghā, is called a gandanta, which is a hard border, a hard stop, between water & fire signs—there is no nakshatra (starry starspace) there to ease planets from one into another. moon will be moving closer & closer into it today & by the end of the eclipse (6:34 p.m. MDT), will be in the thickest thick of it.
eclipses …
… happen when sun (our soul), moon (our mind) & earth (our body) are in perfect alignment. they are a portal to what lies hidden in our psyches (or out in the world, like government secrets/agendas) & so are gandantas, so this eclipse be a doubly potent opportunity for karmic clearing/reckoning, for dealing with unfulfilled hopes-dreams-desires, addressing subconscious patterns & tendencies, realigning with our truest true north.
whether you fear this opportunity as you might the contents of pandora’s box or welcome it as you would the treasures inside mary poppins’s magic carpet bag is up to you!
cancer …
… is the seat of ajna chakra (as is leo), the third eye, the door of perception, gateway to intuition, inner wisdom, clarity. key words for cancer are: mother, nurturing, inner peace, home. cancer is the fourth house of the natural zodiac, the most private place, where our deepest wounds live, & fester if we don’t address them.
aśleṣā …
… is ruled by the nagas, divine serpents who bring a lesson about our attachments, what we are boa-constrictored to—people, emotions, patterns, situations, suffering—& give us the wisdom to release ourselves from attachments that aren’t healthy, don’t serve our highest purpose.
new moon …
… is generally the time to plant new seeds. but during this new moon, the seed that gets planted gets planted in our consciousness, in our psyche, will be a seed of wisdom, of clarity about our truth. we get to be with it until the lunar eclipse in two weeks, at which point we will know what to do about it.
the portal between the two eclipses is not a time for doing, for starting anything (especially relationships!), signing contracts. it’s a time for purification, not manifesting, establishing.
what are you attached to …
… that is overpowering, subduing the truth of who you are?
what are you clinging to that you thought would bring you comfort but has only brought pain & suffering?
what are you holding onto just b/c it is familiar, known?
what wound is festering?
what might be possible if you shed it, like a snake does its skin, if you could welcome the unknown?
what’s the best that could happen?!
