it’s monday, july 14, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called śatabhiṣak. aquarius is the eleventh sign of the natural zodiac, which is the sign of humanity, of the global village. it is where we realize that, as dr. bruce lipton has put it, “we are each cells in the body of an evolving giant super-organism we call humanity” & thus feel a responsibility toward it; it’s where we want to play doctor, do our bit to keep that super-organism optimally healthy, thriving. where we want to be a force for good in the world, for the world.

śatabhiṣak, speaking of doctoring, is the star of thinking outside the box if necessary to heal what ails. it is ruled by varuna, lord of cosmic & terrestrial waters. he is pictured holding a pot containing soma, fave brew of the gods, which rejuvenates & intoxicates (but in a sublime, not sloppy way), in one hand, a bunch of medicinal herbs in the other. just as the ocean itself is a container for healing, for soma was produced when the gods churned the milk ocean way back when, so are we.
it’s the fourth lunar day (tithi), the fourth phase of the waning moon, until midday, then the fifth. the fourth tithi is associated with both ganesha (obstacles) & yama (death/endings), challenges us not to resist but to embrace the challenges in our life, to, as the bhagavad gita counsels, see equal value in a stone & a piece of gold, maintain equanimity in the face of both unpleasant & pleasant events, praise & blame (14:24-25). the fifth tithi, speaking of milk ocean, recalls the story of lakshmi emerging from it, seeing vishnu & claiming him as her divine husband. what’s your goal? can you fully own it & cross the finish line?
monday is the moon’s day. moon is gentle, kind & connected, sees sameness rather than difference, that we are all, each & everyone of us, aspects of, fractals of, the divine, of that one cosmic super-organism.
