it’s friday, march 20, moon is in pisces, in the starspace called revatī, it’s the second phase of the waxing moon & venus’ day.
pisces, the last sign in the natural zodiac (which begins with aries, as opposed to your personal zodiac, which begins with your ascendant/lagna), represents the end of a cycle, completion, the dissolution of what was back into the matrix of potentiality from which it originally emerged.
revatī is ruled by pushan, the cosmic shepherd, who protects & guides animals home, leads them to fresh pastures, makes sure they are safe & well fed, nourished. we are all shepherds for one another & we all sometimes need someone to shepherd us, guide us home, make sure we stay on our path.
shepherd or be shepherded, nourish or be nourished today.
as ram dass famously said, we are all just walking each other home, no?
moon comes to the end of pisces about 3 p.m. MDT, which is like coming to the end of a road, b/c the juncture between pisces & aries is a hard stop, where pisces ends so does revatī—moon has to move on, make the crossing between signs, without a net, without the support of a nakshatra. this juncture is called a gandanta, “the end” (anta) “of a knot” (gand), as in karmic knot. since moon represents our mind, our mind will feel unsupported, unresolved karma (oi, it is endless, is it not?) may poke us, so do hold yourself with compassion, try to gently untie that knot.
just as pisces represents an ending, a completion, aries represents a beginning. pisces is the dream state, aries where we wake up from that dream, where we are reborn, begin life & where we get to begin again (& again & again, with each lunar cycle), where, thanks to ruling planet mars’ courage, we get to take a risk being our most authentic selves, risk living the life we dream of living.
if you will indulge me indulging yet again in my favorite mystic-poet, john o’donohue:
may my mind come alive today
to the invisible geography
that invites me to new frontiers,
to break the dead shell of yesterdays,
to risk being disturbed and changed.
may i have the courage today
to live the life that i would love,
to postpone my dream no longer
but to do at last what i came here for
and waste my heart on fear no more.
—from to bless this space between us
the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waxing moon, is connected to goddess bhagamalini, who gives us confidence to fan the spark of desire that woke us up yesterday, to ground it so it can grow, allow it to become visible, just as the moon’s light, after being dark as dark, is now finally just barely visible to us.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of the human experience, of our earthly delights, which is why friday, not saturday, ruled by party-pooping saturn, is considered vedic date night. so do what delights you with the one or ones who delight you, & if that most delightful person is you, IN-joy your own blessed company.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
