it’s thursday, november 27, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called dhaniṣṭā. aquarius vibrates with the frequency of humanity, of the great ocean of humanity & of our humanity. saturn, who helped us get serious about the business of our lives in capricorn, also rules aquarius, encouraging us to get serious about the world around us. aquarius is a sign of selfless service, of giving something of ourselves—time, money, material goods—to others, just b/c we can. it’s where we feel a sense of noblesse oblige even if we are very common folk.
have you ever noticed that the poorest people are often the most generous?
when liz gilbert (i’m reading her new memoir, all the way to the river, now) won the lottery, money-wise, with the publication of eat, pray, love, she shared her bounty with practically everyone—friends, family, strangers—paying off loans & medical bills, financing new business, weddings, vacations.
we can’t all be as magnanimous as liz, & her generosity was disordered, but we can all do something from a place of true, regulated, altruism, from a place of gratitude for our own abundance, to improve the lives of others, yes? are our cups not overflowing?
dhaniṣṭā embodies all the energies of nature & brings a lesson about abundance, of knowing that we, too, are a force of nature. it’s a feeling, of gratitude, a knowing that we have everything we need (& then some). is your glass half empty or half full (& i’m not talking about wine today!)?
it’s the seventh lunar day (tithi), the seventh phase of the waxing noon, until noon MST, then the eighth. the seventh reminds us of our duties/responsibilities (hello, saturn!) & can give us helpful hints/nudges in the form of people or situations/events if need be. the eighth is the halfway point in moon’s journey from new to full & gives us an opportunity to hold space for our darkness & light, which might be especially helpful for those in the US celebrating thanksgiving today, b/c nothing shows us our shadow like family or complex social situations!
thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru. gu = “darkness,” ru = “remover”: a guru is the one who removes darkness, brings the light. the darkness is avidya, “ignorance”; the light is vidya, “knowledge”—not any kind of knowledge but wisdom, the wisdom to differentiate between what is real & what isn’t, that lifts the veil of our misunderstanding, helps us see the big picture, that the universe has our back, wants nothing less than for us to evolve into the highest manifestation of our unique & authentic selves.
wishing everyone a safe, sweet holiday!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
