it’s tuesday, january 27, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called kṛttikā. taurus is our comfort zone. it’s where we want to play it safe, wrap ourselves in the security blanket of our material possessions & hunker down. taurus’s symbol is a bull, the gentle ferdinand kind, the kind that would rather spend the day smelling the flowers, or chewing his cud, than pawing angrily at the ground & kicking up a fuss, charging another beast, disturbing his own peace & that of another.
should be an interesting day with all the fiery energy in the mix!
kṛttikā is ruled by agni, sacred fire of purification, who gives us the ability to burn up negativity, toss it into the sacrificial fire. the word kṛttikā derives from the sanskrit verb that means “to cut,” as in cutting through, cutting away, using surgical precision (a very martian skill, btw!) to remove what’s unhealthy (maybe even diseased), useless, excess.
it’s the tenth lunar day (tithi), the tenth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to dharma, to living in right alignment with the laws of the universe & in right alignment with our soul purpose.
i once had a teacher who said dexter (remember him?) was fulfilling his dharma by being a vigilante, a warrior for justice, by killing the killers.

tuesday is ruled by mars, the ur warrior, who is in capricorn, his sign of exaltation (i.e., max positive strength)—yay! but/& he is combust, traveling very close to the sun, until mid-march—not so yay, b/c sun’s heat hots up already hot mars.
on the upside this closeness brings an opportunity to uplevel our courage quotient, our ability to fight the good fight, be protectors (anyone ready to “starve the beast,” as they have been trying to do in arizona, fight to keep AI data centers out of their community?!). on the downside it can make us frustrated, irritable (ohhh, the power of the tech-bros-oligarchy to have their way regardless!).
bonus track: warrior mars is now kissing close to pluto, the transformer, which is “one of the most powerful planetary alignments of the year,” says neo-vedic astrologer barry rosen. “neo” refers to vedic astrologers who use the outer planets—pluto, neptune, uranus. which i don’t. i don’t have anything against them, i’m just sort of a purist, altho i am outer-planet-curious. this conjunction, according to barry, can power us up to get unstuck if we’ve been stuck. check out his article, which is pretty great, if you, too, are outer-planet curious.
