it’s friday, july 25, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called aśleṣā. cancer is the fourth sign of the natural zodiac, which is connected to home—our physical home, as in the place we live, & being at home in ourselves, at peace in our heart, tranquil. it is also connected to mothering & our mother, whose body was our first home. & that first home was watery, like cancer—we floated in an amniotic sea. water is equated with emotions & conveys vibration faster than air. think whales & echolocation, via which they communicate & get their bearings, navigate.
what information/stories/lessons/emotions did you pick up from your mother before you even knew you were doing so? are they hers or yours? how have they served you in navigating through life?
aśleṣā, speaking of the power of vibration, is ruled by the nagas, divine serpents, snakelike creatures, who are profoundly sensitive to their environment, pick up intel about earthquakes, for example, & get the heck outta dodge way before other creatures.
aśleṣā means “clinging, embracing” & what do snakes do but hug the earth, cling to branches—& people!
this asterism is said to be the birth star of ketu, the king of detachment, & brings a lesson about the suffering & disappointment that comes from being overly attached to anyone or anything—even, perhaps especially, ideas & feelings. what are you holding onto too tightly?
like cancer itself, which is represented by a crab, whose hard shell protects its tender heart, its vulnerability, supersensitive aśleṣā invites us to maintain energetic boundaries, to protect our personal space, beware the vibrations around us, turn inward & listen to our inner vibrations, trust our intuition.
it’s the first lunar day (tithi), the first phase of the waxing moon, until about noon, then the second, so we’re (or is it just me?!) still feeling into, sitting with whatever arose during yesterday’s new moon, perhaps still sorting through our emotional garbage, figuring out what can be recycled what goes to landfill.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of beauty & love in all its myriad manifestations, of the sensory pleasures innate to our human existence. friday is always a good day to be in your pleasure zone, especially, but not necessarily, if it involves others, b/c venus is the social butterfly.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
