it’s tuesday, september 10, & moon is in the shravana portion of capricorn’s skyspace. capricorn invites us to get serious, to turn inward. it’s great energy for meditation, as its ruler, saturn, is really good with getting still & quiet & not being distracted by worldly pursuits. it’s not that saturn doesn’t want us to have fun, he just wants to keep us safe, so this could be a good time to reflect on whether you are playing it too safe, too small, on whether the fears that saturn raises serve you or hinder you.
shravana is the asterism about d-e-e-p listening &, yeah, you have to get really quiet to listen. you know how quiet it seems when, say, you’re in the woods … until you go to sleep (ie, get quiet & still) & realize what a ruckus is going on out in nature—how much you haven’t heard? or when, say, there’s a power outage in the city & it gets as silent as it is the morning after a snowstorm & you realize how noisy your world always is? the quieter it is (inside & outside), the more we can hear (inside & outside). the more we can hear, the more we can listen.
a conceptual artist named oliver beer created a keyboard-like instrument from 32 vessels in the met’s collection—an eclectic assortment that included persian religious figurines and art deco portrait busts, each with its own vibrational quality—and enticed music out of their thousands of years of silence. “every empty space has its own resonance,” he said. “every empty space sings, if you listen.”
what song would the empty space within you sing if you paid close enough attention to listen? what message might it convey to you? how can you create more silence in your life, get beneath the noise of daily life & connect more deeply to the wisdom your harbor?
the twelfth lunar day becomes the thirteenth around midafternoon mountain time, so get your clarity on (maybe by, um, meditating?), then go do something you enjoy with people you enjoy. (i mean, if you want to!)
tuesday is ruled by mars, who gives us courage to fight the good fight, the fight for dharma, ours & the world’s; mars is the warrior within us, so use his fighting spirit well today.
& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, contact me for a session! ~.~
