it’s tuesday, september 13, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called ashwini. aries vibrates with the frequency of making our individual mark on the world, showing the world who we are, being all we can be, conquering new territory. with rahu, the north node, hanging out in aries for the next year, we may be especially feeling that urge & inspiration, b/c rahu is all-conquering all the time: rahu wants it all, isn’t discriminating. rahu is a head without a body (ketu, the south node, being his other half, the headless body) & will consume consume consume (conquer conquer conquer) without any sense of satiation. can you imagine being able to eat all the candy you collected trick or treating without getting a tummy ache? that’s why we need mom to tell us to pick one treat per night! so we get to work extra hard to focus on what we want to accomplish, make sure we’re not, um, biting off more than we can or want to chew.
ashwini is related to prana, which is our life force, the fuel we spend as we go through our days & lives. this asterism brings a lesson about how we spend, or squander, our precious life force, whether we direct it toward our highest purpose or not. as within so without; as above so below: as we reflect on our inner fuel reserves, we might reflect on our outer fuel reserves, which aren’t ours alone, & whether we use more than we need to. for example, did you know that, according to robert reich, “the richest 1% emit twice as much CO2 as the bottom 50% of the world”? that means they are consuming/burning up an excessive amount of collective fuel/resources. it’s a reminder to all of us to be circumspect about how much individual & collective fuel we are burning.
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waning moon, which, ugh, means we may feel stymied one way or the other, which is never fun, but our job is just to be present to what arises without railing at it, b/c that just makes dealing with it harder—the only way around is through, after all.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who gives us the willpower to fulfill our destiny—& destiny, as all fans of “the last kingdom” know, is, after all, all.
