it’s friday, september 13, & moon is in the starspace called purva bhadra, where it is going to be full, full, full tonight. most of this asterism is in aquarius & that’s the part of the sky where we’ll experience the full moon, but moon will move into pisces in the weeeeeee hours tomorrow morning. the full moon in aquarius is opposite the sun in leo, asking us to harmonize our sense of individual, personal power (leo) with the reality that we are but a part of something much larger, that we are part of a collective whole (aquarius). leo is the king, aquarius is all the people in the kingdom. can you find a balance between ego & humility, find a way to exert your power for the greater good of all?
purva bhadra is ruled by aja ekapada, one of the rudras. the rudras were the vedic precursors of siva & their energy is, like siva’s, about transforming consciousness. eka means “one,” pada “foot,” & aja is often translated as “goat.” so we’re talking one-footed goat here, or a goat that has one foot in this world, one in the other. one foot represents the pre-transformation consciousness, the other consciousness transformed. purva bhadra is the flash of inspiration, that aha! moment, when we get a glimpse of that other world, when we realize that there is something more, when we get a wee taste of consciousness expanded & our place in all that is.
the philosopher chris bache says: “if we have temporary experience of infinity, it leaves a lasting impression even when we are back to being a finite being.”

as i already mentioned, it’s full moon time. in aquarius. a good night to surrender your small self into the vastness & to take comfort in not having to hold the whole world up by yourself. notice how much less work & more fun it is when everyone does their part!
friday is ruled by venus, so do something that brings you pleasure. me, i’m going to go for a full moon hike in as close to a forest as i can get with a dear friend (covering my venus bases) & chant to siva—& maybe that’ll bring it!
