it’s wednesday, september 14, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called bharani. under the sway of aries, we are prone to charge ahead with our heads down like the ram that represents this sign, to forget to look both ways, as we would when crossing the street, before we do. that inspiration to just go is the upside of aries; the downside is that we may wreak havoc in the process—cause a traffic accident, destroy property, hurt feelings. which is why we look to the sign opposite, in this case, libra, for balance. while aries is the sign of me me me, libra is the sign of others others others, of our relationships. libra reminds us to consider the effect of our actions on others, which includes mother earth, in order to avoid collateral damage. all of our actions have consequences, intended or not, so let’s keep our heads up & be intentional in an effort to avoid the unintended.
bharani brings a lesson about, yes, the consequences of our actions. (dontcha just love how the nakshatras further inform the lessons of the signs?!) bharani comes from the sanskrit verb bhr (भृ), which means “to bear, support, uphold, protect, foster, cherish.” which are the consequences of, say, bearing a child, bringing one into the world. with children, we get to bear the lifelong consequences of the actions we involved ourselves in nine months prior—talk about instant karma (karma means action)! what did you do yesterday that you are experiencing the repercussions of today? you get to take responsibility & then proceed with intentionality.
it’s the fifth lunar day, the fifth phase of the waning moon, which is related to the moon & healing. the moon is our feeling nature & feeling our feels is the first step toward healing.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, planet of communication. communication entails listening. as epictetus said/wrote, “we have two ears & one mouth so that we will listen twice as much as we speak.” with mercury having begun another retrograde cycle september 9 (it ends october 2), it is especially important to listen, to turn our communication skills inward, ask ourselves what we are hearing & what we are telling ourselves, both of which are based subjectively on our own personal histories & experiences.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
