it’s thursday, september 14, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni, & we have a new moon in uttaraphalguni tonight, so there’s lots to talk about! leo is the sign of the king, of our sovereignty, & it is associated with ajna chakra, the third eye, seat of our intuition & sense of highest purpose. leo is the king of the jungle, who knows his purpose, his place in his world, where his responsibilities & duty lie.
purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, god of delight, & reminds us that a lion springs into action only to hunt, to achieve a goal, otherwise conserves his energy, relaxes, plays. uttaraphalguni is ruled by aryman, god of contracts/commitments, & reminds us that if we make wise choices about what we commit to, if our goals are in right alignment with our highest purpose, & we remain true to them, they will bring prosperity. with saturn & jupiter retrograde & gazing hard at this new moon (& mercury retrograde in leo as well), it may be time to relinquish commitments to goals that have run their course or to stop clinging to some past “if only.” we may have until now been unmotivated to take action, been conserving our energy, reflecting on our goals rather than doing something about them, may have been asking ourselves, am i doing the right thing, choosing the right thing? am i taking responsibility for my goals or avoiding it?
uttara p is also the birth star of goddess lakshmi, whose name is derived from the word “lakshya,” which means “goal,” & famously emerged from the milky ocean knowing exactly what her goal was, that she wanted narayana, the divine lord, as her husband. so she approached him with a garland of flowers & claimed him with it. lakshmi aims high & true—it’s the divine or bust! she puts it all on the table.
so our moon work for the waxing cycle is to commit to a goal that inspires (jupiter) us, that is in right alignment with our highest purpose, our dharma, b/c only then will we be willing to do the hard work (saturn) to achieve it. saturn may make us think it’s impossible but also gives us the perserverence to keep at it, while jupiter will remind us that 100% is possible 100% of the time. what goal are you ready to commit to? are you all in?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
