it’s thursday, september 16, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace called uttarashadha. saturn-ruled capricorn vibrates with the frequency of focus & discipline, of taking practical steps to implement the hopefulness & inspiration we tapped into in sagittarius. what’s one positive action step you can take today to bring the ethereal down to earth, to make the imagined real?
uttarashadha is the counterpart to yesterday’s purvashadha (see yesterday’s post for more) & brings the lesson of invincibility. this asterism is supported by not one deity but a plurality of them, reminding us how much effing support we have to make our dreams come true, that our butterflyness (again, see yesterday’s post!) does not have to remain a figment of our imagination if we are aligned with the divine forces of the universe, of which there are so so so so many.
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which is associated with yogic practices, especially meditation.
“in order for meditation to work, you have to give up hope!” — alan watts
you can meditate on why that would be!
thursday is infused with the special sauce of jupiter, the wisdom that produces a belief system. with jupiter retrograde in capricorn now, it’s time to question what we believe & whether our beliefs—about anything & everything—are yielding the results we desire; it’s time to go beneath the surface; it’s time to reassess & simplify, pare down.
my teachers sharon gannon & david life taught me that to be a yogi is to be a radical, a rebel, & that a radical gets to the root (think of the radical symbol in math) of things, doesn’t swallow teachings whole but ponders them, tests them to see if they actually work; that a yogi is willing to speak truth to power, challenge it, question it, think for themself.
david life would say that if, for example, you want to understand yogic scripture, you have to either read several commentaries (b/c each wisdom tradition has a different spin) or learn sanskrit. i chose to learn sanskrit … & i still read several commentaries!
are you reading just one translation of, say, a sutra & taking it as gospel? are you just reading headlines or one news article from one source or are you reading several articles from several sources, especially on topics that are facilitating what you believe? are you thinking for yourself or letting others do your thinking for you?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
