it’s friday, september 17, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace called shravana. in the environment of capricorn, we want to get serious; we are reminded that we don’t have forever to get ‘er done. “don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today” might be capricorn’s mantra. moon is hanging out with saturn & jupiter in this sign right now, so we can tap into the former’s discipline & focus & the latter’s inspiration & hopefulness to, yes, do what we can today. what can you do? whenever i have a gap of, say, 10 minutes in my schedule, i ask myself, “what can i do in these 10 minutes?” there. is. always. something. it’s amazing how much i can check off my to-do list that way.
shravana brings the lesson of deep listening, of using our innermost innermost innermost ear to hear our innermost innermost innermost voice, to hear the voice of god—or spirit or whatever you like to call the ineffable, the ineffable within. the ba’al shem tov, the founder of hasidism, taught that god is everywhere & in everyone & everything, but he used to walk into the woods to meditate & talk to god. when a friend asked why, if god is everywhere, he went to the woods to pray, he said, “it’s true, my friend, god is everywhere. but it’s easiest, for me, to find him in the woods.” shravana supports us in getting quiet enough so that we can hear the voice of god, tap into source. what conditions facilitate that for you—a particular environment or time of day, certain rituals?
it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waxing moon, which helps clarify our vision & allows us to shine it out into the world.
friday is infused with the special sauce of venus, who loves people, loves being in relationship, loves being social, which is why friday is considered vedic date night. with venus in libra until october 1, it’s a good time for us to enjoy others, be in the flow with them, to make new connections, breathe new life into relationships that may have hit a plateau or be suffering from a miscommunication, or worse. it’s also a good time to get your creativity on—make shit!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
