it’s wednesday, september 21, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called pushya until about noon mountain time, then in ashlesha. under the sway of cancer, we are invited to get with our heart-knowing, to feel into, rather than analyze (so very gemini!), what is true.

if you thought you had only one brain, only one way of “knowing,” you might be surprised to discover that we actually have three brains—head, gut & heart. the head is our seat of logic & intellect, but 90% of our behaviors are, um, unconscious, so, like, are we actually using our heads? the gut produces 90% of mood-managing serotonin, which carries messages via nerve cells from the brain throughout the body—if we want to feel good, & thus have good thoughts, we need to eat well. there are more neural pathways from the heart to the head brain than from the head brain to the heart. so it’s obvious that the heart has way more influence than the head, right?

pushya (see yesterday’s post for more) brings a lesson about how & what we nourish & the quality of what we manifest as a result. ashlesha brings a lesson about what we cling to & how that does or doesn’t serve us. if we’re clinging to love, no problem, unless we’re being possessive, holding too tightly to the thing we manifested—a relationship, say. but if we’re clinging to negative, disempowering emotions, ugh! let’s set them free!

it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which is related to spiritual practices, especially fasting, but meditation counts too. there’s a difference between the mind & the brain. meditation is about steadying the mind, by focusing on the breath or a mantra or just watching our thoughts without attaching to them, like we’d watch clouds move across the sky. the trick is not to overdo it, to not try too hard, b/c, according to sri sarada devi, that actually heats the brain, makes it restless, which is the opposite of what we want to do.

wednesday is owned by mercury, planet of communication. it’s a good day to spread your word—to get on the phone, push send on your email campaign, submit the op-ed piece that’s been waiting to see the light of day, market your ideas.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
