it’s thursday, september 21, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. in the environment of scorpio, we have an opportunity to test our courage & resilience, our ability to go to dark places & reemerge into the light. it’s where we are emotionally vulnerable & so easily triggered. triggers are a good thing, they remind us that we still have work to do, that we’re not fully healed … yet. here’s the thing—& don’t hate me for saying it, but—our work is never done until we are. so can you thank your triggers, say, as master coach preston smiles has suggested, “from the depths of trauma & the shadows of shame i rise, not defined by my past, but grateful for my resilience, i am a masterpiece of strength & healing”?

jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, the king of the gods, a title given to someone who had, um, done their work, had performed tons of tapas, penance, amends, & thus had earned a position of authority. the more work we do, the more we are humbled, & so the better able we are to step into a leadership role without abusing that privilege, without using the power bestowed upon us as a cudgel but as a tool of compassion & generosity.

it’s the seventh lunar day, the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is also ruled by indra, but a particular indra, the one who rode a rollercoaster of fame & failure, fell spectacularly from grace b/c of his big, fat ego. so we get a double dose of, twice as much opportunity to, work our humility muscle today—yay!

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us beliefs, which allow us to stand for something. “if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything,” said landscape designer gordon eadie. our beliefs create a container for our lives, so we don’t fall for just anything. they give us a map so we can navigate our earthly existence & inform our behavior. but just b/c we believe something doesn’t mean it’s true. like, believe it or not, there are people who don’t believe in evolution, or in free speech or in bodily autonomy or in same-sex marriage. how true do your beliefs feel? what do you believe & how does your behavior reflect that?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
