happy autumn equinox! it’s tuesday, september 22, and moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. scorpio is where our fears & paranoias hold sway over us, where the emotional/psychological waters are rough, make us feel out of control. instead of trying to be in control, how about just being with what is, observing without engaging? in zoom-yoga last night, my teacher natalie ullman, who knows a lot about subtle body energy, mentioned that floating, as in floating from down dog into plank, stimulates proprioception, what has been called our sixth sense, our ability to know where we are in space between heaven & earth. see what happens when you float on scorpio’s turbulent waters rather than get pulled under by them. notice whether you don’t have a better sense of where you are.

jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra. we think of indra as the king of the gods, as the one king of the gods, a particular god, but indra was really a job title, like president, that was conferred on someone who had done enough penance to earn it. just as the eldest one in a family takes on more responsibility for the younger ones, protects them, indra’s role was to protect all the beings who inhabited his realm. the indras became indras based on past-life merit—it was positive karmic payback. it’s possible that all eldest children are born the eldest b/c of past-life merit as well—we’d have to look at everyone’s charts—but as an eldest myself i can say that the responsibility doesn’t always feel like a karmic gift!

it’s the seventh lunar day, or tithi, the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is also related to lord indra, so this is a good day to double down on taking responsibility for the people in your life, protecting them, keeping them safe.

tuesday is ruled by mars—make sure you use his fighting spirit to fight your own demons rather than turn others into demons. indra’s demon was pride. what’s yours?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
