it’s friday, september 22, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called mula. coming on the heels of emotionally turbulent scorpio, sagittarius offers the balm of hope for our hearts by letting us see the bigger picture, gives us faith that all is unfolding by design, with a purpose, for the benefit of our soul, even if it doesn’t feel that way in the moment, even if we can’t see where we are going. but we can look back on where we’ve been, on all the experiences we’ve collected & have survived & have informed who we are now, on how much each one has expanded us into greater authenticity, & we can go, “wow, look at me, i’m pretty darn great!” sagittarius invites us to say, “i trust life!” do you? can you?

mula means “root,” & you may recognize it from the word “muladhara,” the first chakra, which is located at the base, the root, you might say, of the spine, the spine being the physical counterpart to sushumna nadi, the central channel, or spine, of the subtle body. plants, like the spine, grow upward from their roots. if our first chakra issues (i.e., money, parents, job) are unresolved, kundalini will be blocked, won’t be able to travel upward. if the roots of a plant are bound by weeds, its growth will be stunted. “mula” also refers to root causes, & is ruled by niritti, an especially fierce form of already ridiculously fierce kali, & brings a lesson about getting to the root of what is stunting our growth & yanking it out like we would weeds in the garden, being our own roto-rooters, you might say!

it’s the eighth lunar day, the eighth phase of the waxing moon, which supports creativity based on the five elements & three gunas, which are the foundation of all manifestation in the universe. it’s a good day to ask yourself whether you need a little more earth element or a little less tamas in order to manifest what you want.

friday is ruled by venus, planet of love. love, as my teachers have taught me, is our essence, the core of our being, of our beingness. “the most important aspect of love is not in giving or the receiving: it’s in the being,” said ram dass, who also said just “be love.” try it & see what happens!

that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
