it’s thursday, september 23, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called ashwini. aries vibrates with the frequency of making our mark in the world, of owning the power of our individuality, of our authenticity, of telling the world, “here i am, this is who i be.” mars rules this sign & wants us to act, move forward. he doesn’t really care what we do as long as we do something.

what can you commit to today?
the word ashwini is derived from ashwa, which means “horse,” & is ruled, perhaps not surprisingly, by the ashwini kumara, the horse gods born of the sun & his wife, who had taken the form of a female horse (which is a story for another day!). horses represent our senses & creativity & desires & this asterism brings the lesson that, just as wild horses have to be tamed if we’re going to ride them (animal rights is a story for another day as well!), so we must control our senses. we get to be the boss of them, not vice versa.
it’s the third lunar day, the third phase of the waning moon, which invites us to be flexible, change course or take a step back or sideways, to be open to learning what is & isn’t working so we can find another way if need be.
jupiter, who is our capacity & desire to believe in something, owns thursday. our beliefs create a container for our life, give it meaning, shape & color. beliefs aren’t tangible, like an orange or a bar of chocolate. we don’t have to believe in an orange or a bar of chocolate to taste them. beliefs are abstract & entail faith. we use our imagination to create our reality from our beliefs. we have to believe in our beliefs, you might say, have faith. as russell brand recently pointed out in a video, which i can’t find, otherwise i’d happily share it with you, unless we believe in god, there is no god. put that in your pipe & smoke it! do you or don’t you believe in god? how is your reality a reflection of what you do believe?
