it’s friday, september 23, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. leo vibrates with the frequency of being the king of the jungle, the sovereign of our individual realms. when we are sovereign we exercise the full extent of our power, which means, as the bhagavad gita counsels, that our prime concern should be dharma—the welfare of all living beings (II.11). in this way we lead by example, thus setting standards with our integrity, & all others will follow in our footsteps (B.G. III.21).
magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, & brings a twofold lesson—about remembering that we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before, that we would not be here without our genetic forebears (which go alllllll the way back to adam & eve!) & all those who shaped our life, guided us, mentored us, showed us the way by example, taught us, provided opportunities & lessons; & about healing our ancestral karma by being all we can be, fulfilling our dharma. & how fitting that we are coming to the tail end of pitris paksha, the fortnight of honoring our ancestors, which ends with the new moon in virgo on sunday. it’s always important to remember our ancestors & express our appreciation to them, but this is an especially potent time. if you need some words, try these:
“o! pitris, in whichever form you may be, wherever you may be, we wish to remember and pray for your peace and welfare, & offer you the oblations with devotion. please bless us & forgive us for any omissions & commissions in our life with you on this earth.”
it’s the thirteenth lunar day, the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which—ahhhh, i love when this happens, when the thirteenth tithi dovetails with friday, venus’s day—is venusian in quality as it is related to kamadeva, the hindu cupid. so it’s a good day to vibe high with the ones we love, whether that’s our own fabulous self or others, to be in the delight of having a human body & all the sensory pleasure that allows us to experience.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of love. “love is the sharpest sword a warrior can wield,” said filmmaker mikki willis in a recent interview i caught. may we all be love warriors today (& every day)! may we all shoot arrows whose tips are dipped in the nectar of love!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
