it’s tuesday, september 24, & moon is in the starspace called pushya, which is in cancer & really couldn’t be anywhere else. cancer’s energy is all-nurturing, all-unconditionally-loving; cancer is overflowing with love & just wants to shower it on everyone & everything, especially family & friends. the catch is that cancer can forget to take care of cancer! no one can truly love on others without loving on oneself, right? no one can nourish others who is unnourished themself, right? cancer is asking us to learn how to give from a place of fullness without depleting the source, & of course when we give from a place of fullness, there is always more to give, the well never runs dry.
the nakshatra pushya is sometimes represented by the teats of a cow, b/c pushya’s dharma is to nourish others, to create a world in which everyone & everything can thrive. & who does that first for us? generally, our mothers, who do it, ideally, with unconditional love. they may not always get it right (!), but they do the best they can given the circumstances of their own birth. one way to make peace with the conditions of our own birth is to show gratitude to our mothers, to our parents. & this is a very auspicious time to do so, not just b/c of the moon’s passage through this asterism, but b/c …
… shraddha, a time to honor our departed ancestors, is from september 14 to 28. it ends right before navaratri (the nine nights of the goddess) & right before the jewish high holidays this year. i mean, we gotta take that timing as a great, big hint to bow down to those who came before so we could be here now, dontcha think?
it’s the eleventh lunar day, which makes it a good day to double down on your yogic or other spiritual practices, whatever you do that reminds you that you are a vessel, that you are here for something bigger than yourself & allows you to purify your inner temple so you can connect to that energy. you can always ask the ancestors for guidance if you need it—that’s what they’re there for.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who moves into virgo later today for the next six weeks-ish. mars is in a challenging spot for many reasons & virgo isn’t his happy place: mars likes action & virgo likes critical thinking, which slows mars’s roll & frustrates him. so be on the lookout in the next little while for mental gears working overtime, aggressive thinking, taking the bait too easily & getting into nasty verbal quagmires, being impatient, and relationships that trigger you. ok, that’s enough homework for today!
& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, contact me for a session! ~.~
