it’s monday, september 26, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hasta. there is a whole lotta newness & goddess energy in the air, what with the new moon yesterday in virgo, in the starspace called uttaraphalguni, the jewish new year (shana tova, y’all!), & the beginning of navaratri, the nine nights of the goddess.
virgo vibrates with the frequency of the virgin, the maiden, of pure goddess potentiality, also with attention to detail, of getting our lives in order. so we get to ask ourselves what part of our life needs cleaning up, needs more attention, more discipline, more purification. uttaraphalguni is the marriage star of shiva & shakti & brings blessings to commitments & agreements & contracts made with love, with high-mindedness, that benefit all parties. so we get to reflect on our commitments/agreements/contracts, make sure they are heart-aligned, renegotiate or break them (yes, you can) if need be.
virgo is also the sign of the healer, & navaratri is a celebration of durga devi, who famously slayed the demon mahishasura, the embodiment, you might say, of our wounded voices, the parts of us that don’t feel worthy, that are afraid, that prevent us from standing up for ourselves. we get to heal those parts so we can, indeed, make agreements with others from a place of wholeness & healthiness. with virgo’s ruling planet, mercury, retrograde now, it’s perfect timing for an inward journey, for self-reflection.
hasta brings a lesson about manifestation, & the goddess (whom we worship as kali, laxmi & saraswati, each for three nights during navaratri) is the pure creative force of the universe. we get to feel the goddess move through us, remember that we are but vehicles for the divine mystery of manifestation.
it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waxing moon, so there’s still time to set your intentions, own your moon work, for the new lunar cycle, to reset, maybe with a mantra. mine is “i am organized,” which is hugely aspirational for me since almost all areas of my life are out. of. control. lol!
monday is owned by the moon, which is our intuition, our heart-knowing, our inner compass, our self-trust. the heart “knows all things, b/c it came from the soul of the world, & it will one day return there.”—the alchemist
