daily blissit’s thursday, september 26, & moon has, apparently, made it across the treacherous gap between cancer & leo. moon is now in magha & the energy has shifted overnight from the feminine, emotional nature of cancer to the masculine, action-oriented nature of leo, from yin to yang, from feeling to doing. leo is the king & this is where we are invited to take control of our own personal kingdoms, but with a true sense of noblesse oblige, with the best interests of all those over whom we hold sway in mind (& heart). for example, the lowest expression of this kingly energy would be someone who sat on the throne for the sole purpose of raping the land & looting coffers & making business deals that enrich only himself (& those who enable his greedy pilfering). the highest expression of leo energy is quite the opposite. we don’t have to look far for a horrendous example of the former, but what about the latter?

magha is ruled by the pitris, the ancesters. this reminds us that we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before—whether in our family of origin, or cultural family, or spiritual or academic or artistic or scientific or whatever lineage. we didn’t get here by ourselves; others paved the way, endured hardships, made sacrifices. it’s also a reminder of the karmic burden we carry, but maybe “responsibility” is a better word. for many it means that we have opportunities now that our forebears didn’t have for one reason or another. & so we have an obligation to fulfill our highest aspirations, our highest potential, b/c in so doing, we will heal not only ourselves but our lineage & the world around us.

i mentioned this the other day, but it is relevant today as well, since we’re talking about ancestors! shraddha, a time to honor our departed ancestors, is from september 14 to 28. it ends right before navaratri (the nine nights of the goddess) & right before the jewish high holidays (not to mention the new moon in virgo) this year. i mean, how much more auspicious could that timing be?! it’s an especially great good opportunity to show our gratitude, in whatever way is meaningful to each of us.

it’s the thirteenth lunar day, which has to do with desire & happiness—don’t feel guilty about skipping outta work early & doing something that brings you joy if you feel so called.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, which is the source of our inspiration, the energy that drives us to reach higher. what inspires you? what do you love doing more than anything? does that nourish you, bring satisfaction, on a soul level?
