it’s wednesday, september 28, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called swati. libra is ruled by venus, planet of our pleasure essence, of our earthly delights, especially our delight in other people, b/c we are by nature relational beings. as his holiness radhanath swami says, “the only pleasure that really touches the heart is the pleasure of loving & being loved—it’s our fundamental need.” with venus now in virgo, its sign of debilitation, where it can be critical of our people & picky-picky-picky—we might pick inappropriate partners or focus on the imperfections of our current partners, pick them apart. when a planet is debilitated it means we just get to work harder in that area of our life, so it’s important right now for us to uplevel our relationship skills, to remember that relationships, all good relationships, whether romantic or platonic or business, get to be a conversation. so let’s communicate!
speaking of communication, swati is ruled by vayu, the god of wind, which is how ideas are dispersed, so it’s a good day to share your ideas—write letters (remember those?!), send out your newsletter, market your latest product. while that’s a good use of the external winds, swati brings a lesson about gathering & focusing our inner winds, not dispersing our prana, our vital life force, haphazardly. vayu was hanuman’s dad, & hanuman knew a thing or two about harnessing his inner winds in the service of god, of his highest expression of self. we can all take a page from hanuman’s book (from the ramayana!) today.
it’s the third lunar day, the third phase of the waxing moon, so things may not go exactly according to plan today. you know the expression “when you make plans, god laughs”? yeah, that. a sense of humor & the ability to do a 180 if necessary will serve us well today.
wednesday is owned by mercury, who is our ability to gather information & use reason to make decisions. mercury is also our power of imagination, our ability to conceive ideas. perhaps most importantly, mercury is our faculty of discrimination, of discernment, to know what to give up & take up, what is serving our highest interest & what is not, what is distracting us, keeping us off point.
