it’s thursday, september 29, & moon moves from libra into scorpio about midday while being supported & transported by the starspace called vishakha. libra (see yesterday’s & tuesday’s posts for more) is all about relationship, scorpio the fears that arise as a result of being in relationship. the honesty & vulnerability necessary to create intimacy in relationships, our hopes & dreams about them, can leave us feeling, well, vulnerable, & that can be uncomfortable, scary even, can invite our shadow to come out to play. but, as carl jung said, “how can i be substantial if i do not cast a shadow? i must have a dark side also if i am to be whole.” only a ghost doesn’t cast a shadow. jung also pointed out that “the less [the shadow] is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.” our job is to make friends with our shadow, shine a light on it, see what it has to teach us about ourselves. our challenge is to be brave enough to face our fears, to engage with, befriend, the tiger within.

vishakha is the only asterism ruled by two deities, indra & agni, the king & the priest, & brings a lesson about harmonizing the material & the spiritual in our lives, about how the material supports the spiritual & how the spiritual informs the material. we need a certain amount of material comfort in order to pursue our spiritual practices & we use the wisdom acquired from our practices to lead more ethical, connected, enlightened lives. it’s not one or the other, but both.

it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which can bring a feeling of being thwarted. sometimes we’re thwarted as an invitation to work harder, sometimes to show us we’re on the wrong path. how to know the difference? i’m no expert, but i’d say that if we keep hitting the same bump in the road, that’s a good indication that it’s time to ask siri for directions or try a different road.

thursday is owned by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru. ramana maharshi said, guru, god & self are one,” b/c the guru, our teacher(s), takes us to god, who takes us, returns us you might say, to our self, who is the ultimate guru.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
