it’s thursday, september 2, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called punarvasu. in the environment of gemini we become very curious about & stimulated by the world around us. we want to experience as much as we can, figure out what we like & don’t like, what feels nourishing & what doesn’t—& in so doing we learn who we really are, we define ourselves.
punarvasu means “the return of the light,” as in, the sun always comes out after the storms brought by ardra (see yesterday’s post for more). this asterism is ruled by aditi, the universal mother, the one who dries the tears from our internal storms, reminds us that we are loved, that love is the source & meaning of all that is, that behind the darkness is always light, that mother is always there.
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which supports our spiritual practices, all of which, as far as i know, are designed to create a buffer between our true self & the noise of the world by bringing us into present moment consciousness. whatever practice we employ, the important thing is just to practice, whether sloppily or neatly, to enjoy it & do it with heart, not judgment. like, i’m a sorta sloppy meditator—i might skip it once or twice a week, i might have an insight in the middle of my sit & get up to write something down, i might not be able to keep my mind still for more than a second—but the whole ritual of chanting & offering prayers before & after, connecting to my teachers, creating a sacred container for meditation nourishes & grounds me & is done from my heart. swaha!
thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us hope & inspiration, often, but not necessarily, through gurus, teachers. neem karoli baba, known as maharaj-ji, was & is the beloved guru of many, many of whom, like me, never had the karma to experience the radiance of his love while he was in his body. he didn’t teach his disciples practices like meditation & yoga. what he taught was love, to love everyone, serve everyone, remember god. & tell the truth which can be harder than meditating in a cave for a week.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
