it’s monday, september 6, & we have a new moon in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni, which couldn’t be more delightful for many reasons! one of which is that purvaphalguni is the star, as we in the astrology world say, of delight. another is that venus, planet of delight, just moved into its home sign of libra, where it wants to maximize our delight in other people, in our relationships. yes, after spending the last little while in nitpicky virgo, whose influence on venus might have had us complaining & comparing & criticizing our partners, venus is now in the relationship-harmonizing environment of libra, where we can repair any damage we might have done, where we are invited to focus on connection & consistency & commitment in a most conscious way. PTL!
purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, who bestows good fortune, prosperity & happiness on us based on the merit we have accrued from past good deeds. this is where we get to enjoy, delight in, the fruits of our good karma, & the symbol of this asterism is a bed, a very good place for afternoon or evening or morning delighting, for this star inspires romance & lust, especially if it leads to marriage (which is what tomorrow’s star is all about—first comes attraction & romance, then comes marriage or some kind of committed partnership).
so what’s with the hammock? well, the first jyotishi who read my chart referred to this star as the cat in the hammock, b/c leo is a big cat, aka a lion. now, my kitties never liked hanging in a hammock, but hanging with my beloved in a hammock—a swingin’ bed!—has always seemed like the epitome of deliciousness to me.
putting it all together, our moon work for this month, should we accept the challenge, is to INjoy, find new joy in, our relationships, bring more harmony to them, focus on all our people do right rather than on what they do wrong, to ask ourselves, “who do i want to share my hammock with?”
i’d say, “good luck with all that,” but with purvaphalguni in your pocket, you won’t need it—bhaga is bringing it for you!
