it’s wednesday, september 7, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace called shravana. capricorn is ruled by saturn, who we might call father time. under the sway of capricorn, we are aware that while time itself may be infinite, our time on earth is not—we each get only so many breaths to breathe in our lifetimes & we have no idea how many that is. i have to confess that i’m not great with budgets (an understatement!), but i came across the idea of keeping a time budget recently—writing down what you do each day & how much time you spend doing it & how that serves, or doesn’t, your highest vision for yourself. then, just as you’d delete that extra piece of chocolate if you were counting calories & keeping a food diary, you can delete whatever activity is extraneous to your vision & spend that time more circumspectly.
shravana brings a lesson about deep listening, about getting so quiet we can hear the sound within, the sound of silence, which is not exactly devoid of sound, of meaning, of import.

it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waxing moon, which is related to the sun, whose heat is our inner power source & whose light gives us clarity about our vision & shines our way forward. our inner power grid, unlike, say, california’s, which is being maxed out by monstrous heat, never shuts down, is ever renewable. just as we ponder how we are spending our time, we get to ponder how we are spending our fuel—just b/c it is infinite doesn’t give us an excuse to waste it.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who makes us wonder, makes us as curious as a cat & gives us discriminating intelligence, the desire to learn & know. mercury allows us to know what we don’t know & to examine what we think we do, to re-know, if you will, or to just not know.
