it’s wednesday, september 9, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohini. earthy taurus literally grounds the moon, stabilizes our restless emotions. in taurus we take comfort from the container of love & support from family & friends, especially those we are in alignment with, whose values we share. but earth can also ground us too much, keep us stuck or stubborn, so watch out for that.
the asterism rohini is the moon’s favorite place. the twenty-seven asterisms (nakshatras, starry mansions) that subdivide the zodiac signs, that bring more nuance to them, are the moon’s wives. interestingly, though rohini is his favorite, he doesn’t play favorites, but rotates through his starry harem, spending one night at a time with each wife. which explains why we feel emotionally different each day. or is it just me? in any case, rohini allows us to feel a sense of peace & connection & stability—just don’t get too attached to that feeling or too jealous/envious of others who may get a hit of that as well. there is plenty of moon to go around!
it’s still the seventh phase of the waxing moon until early afternoon, when it becomes the eighth phase. during the seventh phase, we connect to our inner indra, who was the lord of the gods; we feel the satisfaction of having dominion over our world, ideally understanding that dominion entails responsibility not mere dominance. during the eighth phase we check in with what we have created, what we want to create, making sure that it is in alignment with what we value, that we are creating something of value. what do you value?
