it’s monday, september 9, & moon is in the starspace called uttara ashadha, which is partly in sagittarius but mostly in capricorn. this asterism creates a bridge of consciousness between the different energies of those two signs: in sagittarius we connect to our belief system, which may or may not entail religion or spirituality, & in capricorn we take it for a test drive, see how it works in reality. sagittarius gives us hope, capricorn helps us create a container for that hope, asks us to get serious & practical about it.
uttara ashadha is ruled by the visvadevas, the “all gods,” the foundational principles of life embodied in the form of deities: goodness, truth, determination, talent, time, enjoyment, firmness, ancestors, abundance, joy, pleasantness, sight, fame, & leadership. these are the qualities that yield good character, that keep us on our dharmic path. we may be born with less or more of these qualities, but we earn & develop them through our relationship with others, through understanding their feelings, through compassion, through the realization of the interconnectedness of life, of all beings. when we know that our actions have an impact beyond us, we are empowered to act righteously, not self-righteously, but in alignment with what is right & true, with what is dharmic. dharma keeps us on path, & able to overcome obstacles & achieve the purpose we were meant to fulfill.
which qualities have you developed? which ones could use more work? which ones need just a wee bit of tweaking? who in your life embodies those qualities, models them brilliantly for you?
the eleventh lunar day becomes the twelfth about midday. the eleventh phase of the moon is related to spiritual practices like meditation & fasting, the twelfth to the qualities of the sun. sooooo, if you get with your meditation this morning maybe the afternoon will yield some clarity about your vision, allow you to take some positive action steps.
monday is the moon’s day. the moon represents our ability to love unconditionally, to see everything & everyone through love’s eyes. as rumi said, “love is the bridge between you & everything.” we create that bridge through our eyes, which connect us with the other.
