what to know so you can align with today’s energy from a vedic (not western/tropical) astrology point of view: it’s thursday, august 27, & we have a full moon in aquarius, in the starspace called śatabhiṣak, accentuated by a partial lunar eclipse, which starts at 7:23 p.m. MDT & ends at 1:01 a.m.
aquarius …
… is the sign of humanity, of our global family. it invites us to consider how our actions affect the world around us—positively or negatively. it invites us to consider how we are serving the greater good, whether we are doing our part.
śatabhiṣak …
… is the star of healing & is ruled by varuna, lord of the oceans. the ocean is our consciousness (more below). moon here is opposite sun (& ketu & mercury) in leo, in the starspace called maghā, which is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, suggesting that what we get to heal is our ancestral karma, the karma that’s passed on from generation to generation.
the good news is that by healing ourselves we heal our lineage as well.
the good news is that by raising our own vibration, we raise the vibration of those around us.

eclipses …
… are caused by the lunar nodes, rahu & ketu, who during the churning of the milk ocean way back when were one demon called swarbhanu. long story short: vishnu enlisted the asuras (the bad guys) to help the devas (the good guys) in the churning b/c it was A LOT of work (it took millions of years in the end!) & promised to share the amrit, the nectar of immortality, lurking in the depths of the ocean equally with one & all.
all the gunky gunk, all the poisons, all the toxic crap rose to the surface before the amrit could, but once it did, vishnu tried to squelch on his promise, trick the asuras out of their fair share, for what he said was the greater good (a very aquarian theme), as he thought they were already too powerful.
swarbhanu got wise to his deception & vishnu sliced his head off, creating rahu (the disembodied head) & ketu (the headless body).
the milk ocean is our own consciousness & the churning is how we get our gunky gunk, our limiting beliefs, emotional/psychic garbage, unworked-through karma to rise to the surface of our awareness, so we can dispatch it & get to the amrit, the wisdom.
shadow, deception, secrets, hidden truths …
… are themes of this lunar eclipse. earth passing between sun & moon creates a shadow on the surface of the moon. rahu & ketu are shadow planets—they have no mass, you can’t see them, they’re just energetic. the milk ocean, the ocean ruled & protected by varuna, is where our shadow—our emotional/psychic gunk—lives, but/& also where our greatest gifts & superpowers do.
rahu …
… is the freedom fighter, the whistleblower, the rebel, the deep digger. he sees through illusion, thinks outside the box, goes against the grain, doesn’t care about upsetting the apple cart in the name of truth, helps us experience what we need to so we can evolve.

eclipses accelerate our karma. they are not a time to shirk our shadow work but to say, “bring it!”
they also come in pairs. if the solar eclipse two weeks ago raised a question, the lunar eclipse today may bring an answer, a way to resolve the issue.
if you have sun, moon, ascendant or ascendant lord within a degree or so of 10° aquarius, you may get the biggest reveals, but of course all depends on individual charts.
