it’s tuesday, april 8, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. after the unconditionally loving environment of cancer, we do a 180, make a u-turn into the protective, paternal environment of leo, we go from feeling deeply compassionate to acting on our compassion more overtly. under the sway of leo we get to be kings, wear a crown & robe & carry a scepter, not for our own sakes, not for vanity’s sake, but for the sake of others—b/c by stepping into & owning our power, by taking responsibility for the world around us, we set an example, show others how to. but don’t take my word for it, take krishna’s in the bhagavad gita:
“by performing their prescribed duties, king janak & others attained perfection. you should also perform your duties to set an example for the good of the world. whatever actions great persons perform, common people follow. whatever standards they set, all the world pursues.”
be your greatest self today! shine like the sun! lead by example!
magha means “mighty” & is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors. yes that means our genealogical ones, our blood relatives, but/& also anyone who has guided us or nourished us, mentored or taught us, taken care of us somehow in some way, who made it possible for us to be where we are, doing what we’re doing right now—we didn’t get here by ourselves! this asterism reminds us that we are bearers of all that wisdom & that embodying it in thought, word & deed is how we pass it on to all those who come after us, pay it forward. how are you honoring the blessings of your ancestors? are you shaping your future & the future of others consciously or not?
it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, until almost 10 a.m. MDT, then the twelfth. the eleventh supports spiritual practices, the twelfth, like leo, is ruled by the sun & similarly supports us in standing in all of our glory, being all we are meant to be.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who gets fired up to take action in the world. unfortunately, he is in cancer for a stay, & he doesn’t get fired up about dealing with his internal world of emotions—quite the opposite. beware frustration!
