it’s wednesday, january 14, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called anurādhā until 2:30 this afternoon MST, then jyeṣṭḥā. scorpio vibrates with the frequency of emotional turbulence. it’s where we might dwell on regrets about the past & fears about the future. but here’s the thing: the past & future don’t exist; our suffering comes from the stories—sometimes nightmares!—we concoct from our memory & imagination about what was or might be.

what was is no longer & what might be might never be & in the meantime we are missing the present, which is generally way less fraught.

what stories are you holding & what purpose do they serve?

anurādhā’s power is that of devotion, of loyalty, which entails a certain amount of surrender, trust. jyeṣṭḥā’s power is to rise, conquer, gain courage in battle, overcome obstacles. scorpio brings the opportunity to learn lessons about both surrender & courage, about the courage to surrender, about the strength that comes from surrendering.

anurādhā invites us to ask what we are completely devoted to, where we are giving our love, our energy wholeheartedly.

jyeṣṭḥā invites us to ask what obstacles we still get to overcome to reach the pinnacle of our success, to be all we are meant to be.

it’s the twelfth lunar day (tithi), the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which has the quality of sri/wealth, delivers all kinds—spiritual, material, intellectual—depending on where we are on our journey & who we are. this tithi delivers the fruits, the results, of yesterday’s practices/prayers, if we performed them with intention & intensity.

did you get a taste of nectar yesterday? can you feel the residue?

it is also the birth tithi of kind ‘n’ gentle mercury, so it is one of the most pleasant & conflict-free lunar phases.

wednesday is ruled by curious & gentle mercury, who seeks info/data/facts & loves talking about those finds. mercury wants to be both truthful & kind, which can sometimes feel as if they are at odds with each other, but are they really?

“the truth is always an act of kindness, even when it seems like it will hurt. & a lie is always an act of unkindness, even when you believe you are being protective.”—martha beck

lying manipulates & infantilizes, is disrespectful—who are we to assume the other person can’t handle the truth, that we have to protect them from it, play daddy or mommy?

our challenge is not to deliver the truth like a stab to the heart.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
