it’s tuesday, november 25, & moon is in capricorn, moving from the starspace called uttarāṣāḍha late morning into śravaṇa.
disclaimer: i’m just coming off (coming down from!) five full-to-bursting days of lectures on jyotish (vedic astrology) by some of the truly greats in the field. my head feels like a hoarder’s room stacked to the ceiling & pressed wall to wall with boxes boxes boxes full of sublime insights & wisdom. i’m going to do my best to squeeze through, find an opening in which i can think about what’s here & now, but no guarantees! thank you in advance for your patience! so …
… capricorn vibrates with the frequency of responsibility. it’s the sign of business & government, the business of our life & the business of a country. it’s ruled by stern saturn, planet of tough love. he’s the life coach who helps us set goals & then holds us accountable, checks in regularly to make sure we’re on track, making progress; he keeps our nose to the grindstone.
uttarāṣāḍha straddles sagittarius & capricorn, reminding us that inspiration (sag) without concrete action (cap) is just a puff of smoke dispersed by the wind. it is ruled by the visvadevas, who represent the collective powers of the heavens, of the cosmos, & since we contain the cosmos we contain all these powers, skills. we are fully resourced to manifest what we yearn to, we just have to remember that. & sometimes resourcing means outsourcing, asking for help when we need it, if someone can do something better or more efficiently than we can.
śravaṇa is the star of deep listening & reminds us that we can listen deeply only when there are no distractions, when we can keep the noise of the world at bay, & that includes the noise of our own voice. this star is ruled by lord vishnu, sustainer & connector. eventually, through deep listening, we realize that we are all one, see everyone & everything as fractals of the divine. yes!
it’s the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waxing moon, until midmorning, then the sixth. the fifth tithi supports creativity but beware indecisiveness from a too-creative mind, from too many ideas; gather your resources & focus on one goal. the sixth tithi + tuesday is a nectar-producing combo, the nectar being the manifestation of our goal, hardening & polishing it like a diamond.
tuesday is ruled by mars, the ur yogi, whose actions are connected to the highest & who purifies his body, his vehicle for action, through tapas—asanas, meditation, pranayama, etc.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
